Product activation serial number for need for speed shift 2 unleashed. The early JMI Vox from pre 1968 are the true classics, 70's & 80's have their ups & downs (but aren't considered great); 90's and early 00's are good reissues; current Chinese-made reissues have their fans and can sound great. But have the stigma. Play and enjoy, don't worry about it much, and you'll be able to sell at a good price when you're ready.

The VOX Story by Dick Denny and David Petersen has a good dating list by features in the appendices and the book 'vox amplifiers The JMJ years'. Because the Vox name has been used by such a variety of companies in different locations, no lists of serial numbers are available. Even so, certain characteristics can help narrow the date of manufacture to within a year or so.

Knowing who owned the trademark at the time when the amp was built is already a head start in dating it to certain era. If it's from 1980's the documented history probably doesn't even cover each and every revision of the AC30 and each and every contract manufacturer who was hired to make them.

All holes for connectors on the back panel (made of chipboard and typical of later amps) have been enlarged. The red warning plaque has been moved to cover the hole formerly occupied by a second speaker connector. The amp's 4x12 cab survives too (picture 14), though somewhat changed internally. At some point the bias circuit was adjusted slightly to accommodate KT77 power valves instead of the usual EL34s - in the final picture, one can see one of the quad with the date and factory code 7824 Z, which translates as 24th week of 1978, Hammersmith Factory. Such increased pricing in a post 9/11 economy caused AC-30 sales to sag. Additionally, the world wide demand for Marshall amplifiers had grown to a point that Marshall no longer wished to build Vox amps. They wanted to dedicate their production facilities exclusively to the production of their own amps. An era ended when the last UK made AC-30 amps were shipped in 2004. The and, made for Vox by the International Audio Group in China, replaced the AC30TB and AC30TBX in 2005. Fender Amp Dating Serial Number

All JMI/Vox Amps had a Serial Number on the plate that was affixed to the back panel of the cabinet. That was the only Serial Number that was recognized by the factory.

Anyway, Rose, Morris & Co. Used several different contract manufacturers for AC30 lineup and as you probably know already, the AC30 amp has been constantly under somekind of revisioning ever since it was conceived. Second clue is a very basic one: Does your amplifier have that plate behind it that usually says something like 'A Vox Product.

Both Four Inputs and Six Inputs were made side by side in late `60-61 for about a year when the Four Input was discontinued. Would help to see some inside chassis shots. But your amp is an early one and the cab is later. Not uncommon to see an early chassis inside a later box. I helped Jim Elyea with his book for around 10 years until it came out in 2008. It's really an incredible book and puts to rest alot of mis-information and myths about Vox.

Ive seen pics with ones like this with no a vox product under the voltage selector and all have been ss rectified. The date ranges from 72 to a late 80s reissue. Im at a loss to figure out what year this is. Thanks for the help! Ive been to that site the info there isn't detailed enough. From the info i saw there it says that the type of voltage selector started to be used by 1975 but they didn't have the rectifier tube then.

The only difference between the AC30TB and the AC30TBX was the speakers. The AC30TB and AC30TBX cabinet was constructed of 13 ply 3/4' baltic birch plywood. Vox purchased the 'two pin' plastic corners for the AC30TB, AC30TBX, AC15TB, and AC15TBX from North Coast Music. North Coast owns the original injection mold for the Vox corner. The eleven tube complement included f our EL-84, five ECC83, one ECC82 and one GZ34.

* Black control panel with screened gold legend. * Seperate letters in Vox emblem. * Small 'Jennings' embossed badge on top margin of frame. * Round control knobs. * Audiom 60 Speaker (AC15) or 80 (proto-AC30).

I work on original AC-30's all the time. I can not see your photos. The originals should have Blue alnico Celestions up until April 1964 when the colour changed to 'poly gray'. There are date codes on some parts, mainly the Wima Tropyfol caps(gold coloured) and also on the 'mustard' caps, woden Tranny's & Hunts filter Caps.

Sections include - 1) The history of Vox, set against the larger history of guitar amplifiers and British and American Music. 2) A series of chapters on all of the parts that make up Vox amplifiers, such as cabinets, coverings, speakers, grillcloths, valves, handles, stands, etc. 3) The entire start to finish process of bringing an amplifier to life, including production totals. 4) The details of each of the Vox amplifier models, covering their developments and circuits. A large chapter in this section rates 45 different models of Vox amplifiers for their sound, and for their suitability for live, studio, and home use. 5) 100 pages that tell about the groups that used Vox amplifiers, with The Shadows and The Beatles each having their own chapters.

Ive been looking all over online trying to find out what year this Vox AC 30 I just got from a buddy was made. It seems not to fit all of the spec i have been reading and looks like a early to mid 70s ac 30.

Dating AC50s Serial numbers, unfortunately, are not a wholly reliable means of dating early AC50s, that is to say, amps made from December 1963 to mid 1965. In large part, this is a result of production practice., based in Purley in South London, made the chassis. These were then taken by road to Dartford, where back panels (with serial number plates) and boxes were supplied. In the process of loading, unloading and storing, any order that might have existed in the Triumph workshop was lost.

Dating Vox amplifier Dating Vox amplifier Dating VOX products can be very difficult. VOX did not observe or utilize standard dating procedures nor does the serial numbers, or cosmetic features on VOX products represent any concrete dating information which we are aware of. The VOX Story by Dick Denny and David Petersen has a good dating list by features in the appendices and the book 'vox amplifiers The JMJ years'.
