Besaid Village looks out over the endless cobalt blue ocean from the highest point on the island, and its inhabitants live out a simple, rustic existence centred on the village’s temple. Some villagers fish in the local waters from small boats, while more than a few others leave the island for long periods of the year to fish on faraway seas. There is a long-standing local tradition that those setting out on a voyage from the island, will go to the ruins by the mountain pass to pray for a safe journey. Luca (FFX) Luca is the second largest and most populous city in all of Spira.

Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster Official Strategy Guide has 189 ratings and 1 review. Dominique Eerie said: What can I say. I am a huge fan of Final.

- No pull out Sphere Grid map - No Shops pages - No Weapons Bio Pages - The Bestiary is essentially the same with a smaller font - The Blitzball Guide is essentially the same with the smaller more purple font - Interior Guide Walkthrough is massively condensed --- Images are removed entirely in some cases --- Area Bestiary no longer includes Beast info for HP, AP, Steal/Drop rates --- Boss Battle Blurbs are smaller in font and overall size. They condensed down a lot to make both guides fit into one book, which is fine but they really rushed it too much and made a lot of mistakes. Maybe it's my OCD but for example the sphere grid maps they give you have so many mistakes!! Paths are missing and spheres are missing or incorrect. Some times they aren't very clear as to what you should do next, now I didn't get too confused in the FFX portion (probably because I played the old one through 5 times) but I have a few times in FFX-2 and it's extremely frustrating! They skip from place to place really fast without telling you where to go and without the maps, I ended up having to skip back to the FFX portion to get a proper look at the maps to see how to get to the next place. It's nice having the new book for purposes of finding items because I do believe the chests located throughout the game are in different locations and contain different items than the old versions.

Though a line of summoners have since brought Sin low many times, it inevitably returns in an unending cycle of destruction. In the face of this ever-pervasive threat, the people of Spira flocked to the teachings of Yevon, which tell that Sin is a punishment to those who relied overly on machina. Tidus is a young Blitzball star that mysteriously finds himself in Spira after his home city of Zanarkand is destroyed by Sin one thousand years in the past. Believing Sin to be the key to returning home, Tidus joins a young summoner named Yuna on her pilgrimage to destroy Sin and bring about the Calm. Last time she saved the world. This time its personal! Two years have passed since Sin was destroyed.

Since her victory and becoming a high summoner, Yuna has lived on her childhood home of Besaid Island. Then one day, Rikku comes to Besaid and shows Yuna a sphere. The recording is of him. Yuna can't tell whether it's him or just someone who looks like him.

The island has a visually gorgeous landscape, with the majority of its landmass taken up by mountainous regions. An abundance of exotic tropical trees and flowers grow from the cliff faces, while the peaks are threaded through by a myriad of waterfalls both large and small. The new game may be HD so I can now play it on my 60' TV without pixelazation but the font used in this new Official guide is so pitifully small I with perfect 20/20 vision need to use a magnifying glass to read the words. I am not even joking. I have to use a magnifying glass to read this book. The font is different and smaller. The images are actually smaller too, when they were not removed entirely.

800 years ago the great hero Mi’hen, leader of the Crimson Blades that were the forerunner to the modern Crusaders, was accused of treason against the temple and travelled along this road to Bevelle in order to vindicate himself before the authorities. A section of the original road was destroyed by Sin 500 years ago and has been abandoned, with traffic now using the new road that was built to replace it. As the High Road is very long and prone to fiend attacks, travellers find it most convenient to traverse its length on rental chocobos. Those travelling in such a manner should be cautious though, as these temperamental steeds are prone to throw off their riders and try to escape if ridden too roughly. Very occasionally, gigantic monsters that prey on lone chocobos also turn up in the area. Moonflow (FFX) The Moonflow is a great river that divides the continent of Djose into north and south. The river banks are abundant with water plants bearing exotic purple flowers known as moon lillies, and when night falls these attract glowing pyreflies, creating a spectacular vista of cascading light.

They did include some new information and modified the original wording and maps somewhat to help players work their way through the game. A lot of things are worded much better now, and the guide looks so much nicer in comparison to the old guides. There is a big con though: they removed a lot of the maps from the X-2 portion of the guide. Now, instead of actually pinpointing most, if not all, of the chests on a map in the guide, they only give you a list of items in the area and let you try to find them on your own.

What can I say. I am a huge fan of Final Fantasy and this is probably my 50th or so gameplay of this game (X and X2 since their initial launch on PS2) So instead of reading my books (read half a manga series while the cutscenes played. If you know them by heart, you need to keep busy with something else), I enjoyed my week end completing this saga. Since this is a book review and not a game review, I'll keep it to a minimum. Fun walkthrough with additions. It's smaller than the original version, What can I say.

Thunder Plains (FFX) The Thunder Plains are an infamously hazardous region that is constantly wracked by lightning storms. The sky is blocked by dark black clouds during both day and night, and is shrouded in a thick fog which impedes travellers trying to pass through it. Although technically a plain, the unceasing lightning strikes have gouged massive craters across the landscape, leaving only a narrow corridor that can be safely traversed. The monoliths that dot this unforgiving path are said to be where High Summoner Gandof sealed away fearsome monsters in the ancient past, and are how it got its full name: the Gandof Thunder Plains. It was only in a much later era after Gandof, that people were able to colonise the Thunder Plains and live there in relative safety, thanks to an Al Bhed known as Bilighen who built lightning towers to draw away the worst of the storm’s wrath. Bikanel (FFX) This island lies far across the sea to the west of Macalania. The majority of the landmass is covered by the inhospitable Sanubia Desert and unfit for human habitation, but it is for exactly this reason that the Al Bhed people came here fleeing persecution from the temple.

There is no longer a list of objectives and the enemies in each area are named, but no stats are shown. There is still a 100% completion checklist, although it's important to note that not EVERYTHING shown in that checklist is also in the walkthrough.

It has great replay value (because it is easy to miss content entirely during the first play through) and I myself have played through it many times. Overall score: 9/10.

I at first ignored the lack of a manual, but when I encountered the first new mechanic, Standard Sphere Grid or Expert Sphere Grid, I opened up the HD manual, and sure enough there it is was along with all the basic gameplay how-to that I normally ignore. So if for some reason you want a basic gameplay how-to WITHOUT buying this guide, you will have to look for free online sources.

The world lies on the brink of destruction. Only a select few may be able to save it. In ages past, the world of Spira experienced a golden age of perfection, brought about by an advanced civilization through the use of wondrous machinery called machina. However, around one thousand years before the present day, a colossal menace known only as 'Sin' appeared and sundered all before it. Though a line of summoners have since brought Sin low many times, it inevitably returns in an unending cycle of destruction. In the face of this ever-pervasive threat, the people of Spira flocked to the teachings of Yevon, which tell that Sin is a punishment to those who relied overly on machina. This flaw and loss of an ‘epic’ feeling was not carried over into the story. The plot, the characters, the setting and especially the music left a lasting impact on players which helped spawn the follow up titles to Final Fantasy X including the first true sequel to any game in the series, Final Fantasy X-2. The addition of voice actors added another impactful element to the game, and while some of the lines in the game are particularly cringeworthy (the whistling scene in Luca), they did a fantastic job overall. Most of the actual gameplay elements were well done and well received.

The background colors for all grids follow a theme throughout the book of pink and blue which are supposed to represent the gender roles of the two main characters Tidus (a boy) & Yuna (a girl). I have to assume that they needed to highlight the gender based color roles because being that Tidus has Meg Ryan's haircut it might be difficult for people to understand that this is a love story between a boy and a girl and not a pseudo lesbian romance.

Mi'ihen Highroad (FFX) One of the comparatively better kept roads throughout Spira. 800 years ago the great hero Mi’hen, leader of the Crimson Blades that were the forerunner to the modern Crusaders, was accused of treason against the temple and travelled along this road to Bevelle in order to vindicate himself before the authorities. The recording is of him. Yuna can't tell whether it's him or just someone who looks like him. If it is him, Yuna might be able to see him one more time. No matter what the truth may be, the answers she finds may change things forever.

Such marvels are made possible by a harmonious marriage of advanced technology and a fervent dedication to aesthetics. Also known as “the city that never sleeps”, Zanarkand reveals its true lustre and vibrancy only once the sun goes down. The people chatter excitedly, wandering between holographic projections and the illuminated city streets, while fans who have failed to get a ticket for the night’s Blitzball game gather in the stadium precincts. An empty peace, far removed from concerns of war or strife permeates the city and its people. Besaid (FFX2) A natural paradise island covered in tropical plants, and surrounded by clear blue seas. Several important ruins from the Age of Machina still remain at various points across the island, which despite its modest size manages to hide many intriguing secrets.

These things might be okay for returning players, but not necessarily for newcomers. Likewise, the into on the Expert Sphere grid is pretty tame.

Besaid (FFX) An island in the southern seas famed for its beautiful weaving and temples, as well as for being home to the Besaid Aurochs, the weakest Blitzball team in all of Spira.

Feel free to ask them to do the same to protect your rights. I'm truly sorry if this ever happens.

If that was the case I'd have already gone online. All that said, some of the same problems are also still present. For one, the guide still has very little coverage on the monster arena. It tells you all the basics but for some of those creatures it would sure be nice to have some strategies or some guidance on what to expect.

In order to cross the river, ferrymen make use of giant creatures called shoopufs that live close to its banks. Of all the denizens of Spira, it is the aquatic Hypello race, native to this region, that excels in the taming and handling of shoopufs and they traditionally pass down the role of ferryman among their own. Guadosalam (FFX) An area inhabited by the humanoid Guado people, who live in underground galleries built amid the roots of giant plants. Guadosalam forms the gateway to the Farplane, a mysterious and otherworldly realm where great numbers of pyreflies gather around gigantic waterfalls, and flit amid fields of beautiful flowers. On the Farplane, merely thinking of a deceased person will cause a vision of them to appear before your eyes, a phenomenon which draws visitors from all across Spira who come seeking communion with the dead. Some come to remember their children who died young, while others seek to confirm the death of a loved one who disappeared without a trace. The reason for visions of the dead appearing in this unearthly place remains a mystery to all.

This isn't exactly the easiest thing in the world to do in some areas, especially with how hard some of the chests are to find and/or spot. Thankfully, they have included information on most of the new content, including things such as the Dark Aeons & Penance in X while including information on the new dresspheres, Last Mission, etc. While they did include some good information, advice, etc., they didn't go too in depth with these additions as they should have. All-in-all, it's pretty much what I expected from them. So, while this guide offers most of what it should, it's a disappointment at the same time.

An ancient ruin from the age of machina sits submerged in the river flow and gives all who gaze on it a feeling of having received great wisdom. The city is also famous for its Blitzball stadium and the tournaments held at this legendary venue allow fair and even competition, raised above the petty concerns of racial politics. The bustling central plaza is always filled with people, especially during the Blitzball season, and is a hive of activity with fans visiting its many shops and cafes, buying officially branded team merchandise, or riding on the balloons to get a commanding view of the metropolis from the air.
