But only if you have extra licensed plug-ins included which is what the auth file is for (unlock licensed plug-ins). Otherwise, if it is just a barebones card (that includes just the basic unlicensed plug-in pak.Pultec EQ, 1176SE, RealVerb Pro, CS-1, Nigel) then you will not need an auth file to install and use.

When UA decided to move forward and no longer support the UAD-1, they lost me as a customer.
