If it is no good return it for a replacement. Hi what i meat with hang is freeze up also I can't access the router's through web interface or telnet interface, I can't rest the router and the router does respond to pings. I have to remove all connection ( power cable and network cable ) to make the router back to life. By the way I met many people on the net facing same pb ( restart any time and freeze). I made complain with Thomson and the asked me to send the event log to them, then they replay me with '' From the logs I can see that the modem is rebooting itself due to overheating ( Warm Kenel Restart ). The only thing I can recommend is that you make sure the modem is not in contact with direct sunlight, that it is in a room with normal room temperature, that it is not laying on the floor or near any corners which can accumelate heat.' ' You can also make complain using this link because that router model is buggy.
How to Upgrade Thomson TG585v7 Firmware. But when i click on the link its go to a german site. And i cannot understand anything from where i should download. Use the Thomson update tool Upgrade-ST-Version-4_7_2-with-BE-_-02-585.zip or the Bethere broadband upgrade software. Please note the Thomson tool includes a copy of the original O2 firmware and one for the Bethere firmware. The Thomson upgrade tool isn't detecting my router, I tried many times by disabling the Firewall as suggested, but yet it's not being detected, it worked only once, I upgraded to 8.2.4.11, but I lost.
I changed time out to 255, and decreased block size to 512 in the configuration file. OF COURSE, BE AWARE, IF YOU DO THIS, YOU WILL LOOSE SUPPORT FROM SMART SIDE, AT LEAST MODEM CONFIGURATION SUPPORT! Yeah, this works. With a large degree of fiddling (via the Telnet interface which becomes enabled with generic firmware) it was possible to create a bridge to one of the Ethernet ports where my router was attached, and retain LAN access to the router web config via another ethernet port. My setup basically had two Ethernet cables from it to my router: one to the WAN port on router, bridged and doing PPPoE, and the other to a LAN port so I could see how much traffic had passed. That was in the days of actual unlimited Smart though.
Things that contain modem in general are not supported on third party firmware because of the lack of drivers from the manufacture. You would need the exact model number to look it up on the compatible lists. Thomson devices tend to not be supported because the manufacture does not provide the necessary information to be able to build firmware.
Click Browse to locate the new firmware upgrade file. Browse to the location where you saved the firmware file. File names will vary depending on the router and firmware you are using. Once you have selected the firmware file click Open. The wizard will now check that the file is a valid firmware image to update the router with. The list will now contain the details of the firmware the that wizard will use.

I confirmed what I wrote previously, the router freeze up and when I ping the router there is no respond, I can't access the router's through web interface or telnet interface, I can't rest the router. There were three led light up, power led green, LAN led green, and wireless led red.
After router is in bridge mode, you can reach it via 192.168.1.254, but it will allow through PPPoE as well. One more comment, I suggest to start TFTP server in stand alone mode to see what happens. For me first time when router started to download the firmware, the TFTP ran into time out.
The reply does not look good for owner/users of this router. -------- Hi, I find there is no provision for the end-user to download firmware for the Thomson TG585v7 router on the Technicolor website. Please make facilities for end-user download of firmware for the Thomson TG585v7 router. Sincerely yours, --------------- Part of the reply from Thomson/Technicolor Technical Support. Thank you for contacting Thomson Technical Support For the TG routers Thomson/Technicolor has a new policy for the fiirmware. The firmware is custom built for the customers of Thomson, the Retailers and ISP's.
13)When the firmware is on the modem, the Ethernet led will go off, and the power led will be orange. You can release the pin now, DON'T TURN OFF THE MODEM AT THIS TIME! Garfield tale of 2 kitties. 14)Wait for about a minute while the firmware is replaced, and the modem will restart with the new firmware installed. The wireless led will be red because the security will be turned off. 15)Reset the changes you made in the adapter settings. Then follow Avo's topic to set-up your modem.

Plusnet's tg585v7 is reflashable to the standard firmware. So keep JTAG connector your case. In reply to a by:Hi all, Just got given a Plusnet branded TG585v7. Was hoping to try and get hold of the firmware that comes with the retail versions of the router.
Best of luck Thank you Ilia, much appreciated.

Once you confirm that this is the firmware you want to use click Next to continue. The upgrade process may take some time. Please do not disconnect the router during this period. If the upgrade fails wait two minutes for the router to restart then click Back until you reach the start the upgrade process again. The wizard will now confirm that the upgrade has been completed. You may now click Close.
And therefore no telnet either. But it is a great idea and method of finding the issue. Don't know why Thomson has spent all the money on a new series of modems and routers and still have such poor customer service and lousy firmware releases. Changing the identification from Speedtouch to Thomson Gateway isn't going to solve all the issues they still haven't got through with all the v6 firmware let alone the terrible v7.

This is a dangerous way of doing this! Do it at your own risk, it worked for me with my TG585V7 on 7.4.4.7. What you need: 1)Firmware:8.2.6.5 generic (region free) / 2)Software:tftpd32 v3.00 / 3)Ethernet Cable(Comes with the modem) x)Your internet username and password (L****@ogeronet-***.com and a 32 character password), you need those to set-up your connection after the update. (View Page Source If you're using chrome, and copy the value content of the password line) Steps: 1)Connect your modem to your PC through Ethernet Cable (Put the cable in port #1), turn off all other devices connecting to the modem, and remove the phone line. Turn off all security (firewall, antivirus.) during the update. 2) Rename the firmware from 'ZZ5YAA8.265.bli.7z' to 'Firmware.bin', when windows says this will change file type, click on yes. Edit: Sorry for this mistake, you should extract the 'ZZ5YAA8.265.bli' file from inside the ZZ5YAA8.265.bli.7z, then rename it to 'Firmware.bin'.
Hi, I have this thomson modem that a friend gave me to test on my things but I can't configure it since I need the username and the password of the administrator not the user ones (username:user pass:user). Do you know how can I know or remove the logins of the modem? I tried resetting it from the back of the modem but it didn't remove the username/password request and I created a topic here Thats because you have a router from Ogero. I talked about it: Users who got their routers from Ogero need a username and password with adminstrator privileges during the setup ('user' and 'user' doesn't work since it gives lan_admin privileges). Try chosen2k 's post in this link to get adminstrator privileges username and password. Other than chosen2k's post, I don't have another solution to get the adminstrator privileges. @geekevo this username and password is not for Ogero router, its default for routers from IDM and others but not ogero.
